OUR STORY

J☆Rocks was a gift that was imbedded in a little boy by the name of Jerriel Bazile from Bunkie, LA. At the young age of 16, Jerriel moved to Dallas, Texas to live with an older sister and his nephew in a small apartment in South Oak Cliff. His sister instilled in him that every person creates the life that he or she wants to live. Those words stayed with him throughout his life. Soon after graduating high school, Jerriel became an assistant manager at a new burger restaurant in the Dallas area.

A year later, at the age of 18, he became a general manager at a fast food taco restaurant. That’s where he discovered his love for the restaurant business and the value of people.

In the late 80’s Jerriel took a break from the restaurant industry to pursue a boxing career, with the hopes of earning enough money to open his own restaurant. Unfortunately, things didn’t work out as planned. Two months prior to the national boxing championship tournament, Jerriel broke his left hand – the scars are still visible today.

After his hand healed, he returned to the ring as a professional boxer, but he was unable to get enough consistent fights to provide a good living for his young family. That’s when Jerriel decided to return to the restaurant business, a business that he loved so much. The older Jerriel got, the more his determination grew to own his own restaurant.

In 2012, Jerriel relocated to Tampa, FL. He was constantly reminded by his older cousin Joe to always be mindful of where God is leading you. What you may think is reason for you doing things in life, may not be God’s reason. He couldn’t see it at the time, but “Joe was right.” Florida was the final steps to the beginning of a new journey and also the birth of the first “J☆ROCKS Pizzeria” in Ocala, FL.

People ask all the time; how the name “J☆ROCKS” came about. J☆ROCKS Pizzeria was thought of with Jerriel’s name and the name of all of his children. All of their names begins with the letter (J) – Jerriel, Jerriel Jr, Jerrae, and JerrKelia. Using that letter to start the name of this small family business made perfect sense for Jerriel and his family. The star (☆) between the (J) and Rocks, is a reminder of what we stand for. It represents the People, Food, Hospitality, Quality, Service, and Cleanliness, as stars. Rock is biblical: — Matthew 7:24- “Everyone therefore who hears these words of mine, and does them, I will liken him to a wise man, who built his house on a rock.”

Jerriel believes that when a man builds his house, his marriage, relationships, business, etc. on a solid foundation, which is God’s word, he will succeed. When the enemy rises against you, stand on God’s word. When things aren’t going as planned, stand on God’s word. When it feels like the walls are closing in, stand on God’s word. When it seems you’ve done all that you can do and you don’t know where to turn, stand on God’s word.
